RENDANCERS NEWS – February/March 2010 Newsletter

CONGRATULATIONS

· Mary Margaret Coats, Jacylyn Tuggle, Victoria Tuggle, Mattie Wheeless, Sydney Wheeless, and Madison Miller made the school talent show at FOES.

· Congratulations to Mrs. Rachel. She has a new baby girl, Addison Leigh Sellnow.

Costumes

Costumes will be available for pick-up the week of March 8^th-March 11^th from 4:30-6:30 p.m. They will only be handed out to a parent. Mrs. Dana, Mrs. Rene’ and/or Mrs. Harolyn will be available to check-out your costumes. Costumes will not be handed out if your account is not current.

Please do not allow students to wear them, play in them, or practice in them until it is time for the pictures. Go ahead and hang them up on a hanger and steam them in the bathroom. If you use a steamer, be careful not to melt the sequins, etc. on the costumes. Don’t let them get wet. Simply hang in the bathroom, close the shower, and turn the water on a high temperature. The steam will help the wrinkles to fall out. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE NIGHT BEFORE PICTURES TO TAKE THE COSTUME OUT OF THE BAG. THE WRINKLES WILL NOT FALL OUT OVERNIGHT.

Recital Tights

Mrs. Rene’ orders convertible/transition tights for all students with the exception of the toddler class. They will receive footed tights. The payment will be included in the recital packet that is due March 10, 2010. If you have your tights from last year’s recital and there are not any holes, runs, etc. you may wear the same ones again. All other students will receive their tights when they pick-up costumes.

Recital Packages

There is a recital package that was due per child on March 10, 2010. It is required for all students to purchase a packet $25.00 (no tights, 1 costume bag, recital tee), $30.00 (1 pair of tights, 1 costume bag, recital tee), $35.00 (2 pair of tights, 1 costume bag, recital tee). Any additional tights will be $5.00 per pair. If a child orders a body tight (older students), it is an additional $5.00.

Recital Pictures

Like last year, recital pictures will be taken at Rendance. Sign-up sheets are posted in the lobby. The pictures will be done by Mary me Photography. The dates are Thursday, March 25^th-Sunday, March 28^th. Please sign-up in the main lobby (one time slot per child).

Dress Rehearsal and Recital Details

Attendance is required at the required dress rehearsal (May 10^th and May 13^th) and recital (Saturday, May 15^th) with full costume, hair, and makeup. We are planning to have all recitals on Saturday this year! The arrival time is 1 hour prior to the show. The dress rehearsals will begin at 4:30 P.M.

Stock-the-Pantry Shower

If you would like to bring an item for Miss Heather’s shower on Saturday, May 13^th, please send an email to Mrs. Rene’ (rene@rendanceacademy.com) and/or you may sign the sheet in the lobby. We already have someone bringing cake/cake squares. The shower is from 2:00-4:00 at Benson Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

Recital Tickets

Our recital is at W.J. Barefoot Auditorium in Benson, May 15^th. Recital tickets will be sold on April 12^th & 19^th (Monday night) from 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm. Recital tickets are $7.00 each. If students require a seat in the auditorium at any time, they will need a ticket. If a chaperone is backstage for the entire time, they will not need a ticket. After students finish dancing, they will need to go to the auditorium. There is not enough room for 135 dancers and chaperones backstage.

Recital Tee Size

There is a sign-up sheet in the main lobby for you to write down the recital tee size that is needed. Tees are worn during awards at the recital and the price is included in your recital package.

The tees will NOT BE the bella (baby doll) tee. They will be the regular size tee. Sizes are:

IMPORTANT

• Please sign-up in the lobby to verify the size you do want for your child.
• Recital Draft will be linked on the website very shortly.
• Registration schedules and information will be available in April. Current students and siblings will receive the free tee shirt if they register before April 30^th.
• Registration will open to the public on May 3^rd. They will receive the free tee shirt if they register by May 28^th.
